How do I know what type of skin I have?

The very first step to any good skincare regime is to correctly identify your skin type and match the products to it.

Start by looking at yourself closely in a mirror. Examine the pores of the skin - how visible are they?

Look at the T-Panel area (the forehead, nose and chin) - are the pores larger or is it oilier than on your cheeks?

Is your skin tight and dry-looking? try pushing the skin on your cheek gently with a fingertip - do fine lines appear?

Can you see any flaky patches or small broken capillaries, particularly on the cheek area? Do you have any blackheads and pimples? Are they always present or only occasionally? If your skin is relatively problem-free and has fine pores then you have a NORMAL SKIN.

If you have larger pores and a slight oiliness in the T-Panel, then you have a COMBINATION SKIN.

If your skin is shiny and has visible, open pores you have an OILY SKIN. If you suffer from blackheads and spots on a regular basis, then you have a PROBLEM SKIN.

If your skin feels taut, with barely visible pores and if fine lines appear when you push it gently with your fingertip, you have a DRY SKIN.

If your skin is easily irritated and you can see small broken capillaries under the skin, you have a SENSITIVE SKIN.

Which products should I use?

Nucelle is recommended for very dry or sensitive skins.
Tahlita is recommended for normal and combinations skins.
Skin Solutions is recommended for oily and problem skins.

Why should I use a Toner?

A toner removes excess oils and any traces of cleanser but most importantly it prepares the skin to receive the maximum benefit from moisturiser.

How often should I exfoliate?

Exfoliating is a vital step to a clear, healthy complexion but be careful not to overdo it. Twice a week is enough for normal, combination and oily skins, but dry and sensitive skins should only exfoliate once a week. If you have a breakout, hold off until it has cleared as exfoliating can spread the infection.

What should I do for my acne?

Firstly, make sure that you see a doctor. Also make sure you drink plenty of water and eat a well-balanced diet. Cleanse, tone and moisturise (yes, you still need to moisturise) 2-3 times a day and remember never, ever to pick or squeeze spots as this can spread infection and lead to scarring.

Why should I use a night cream?

At night when you are resting, your skin is more receptive to receiving nourishing and regenerating treatments. Using a night cream allows your skin to repair the daily wear and tear caused by pollution, make-up and ultra-violet light.

Why can't I use my toner and moisturiser on my eyes?

You should only use products specially formulated for the delicate eye area. This is because the skin around the eye is much thinner than elsewhere on the face and very prone to early ageing.

How long can I keep a product once it is opened?

Once opened it is recommended that a product should be used within six months. Remember always to store your products away from heat.

Will I still tan with an SPF?

An SPF offers your skin protection from the harmful rays of the sun, but it doesn't stop tanning. Remember to reapply any sun-protection frequently during the day, and always after swimming or exercising.
